Barbara Pécherot
Biography
Dr. Barbara S. Pécherot is Clinical Professor of Global Finance and ESG at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She has 25 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering digital educational products and services for adult learners.
Prior to joining Thunderbird, Barbara was the Managing Director of Professional Learning at CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals. She was a member of the executive team and led the division responsible for all continuing education products, ranging from courses and certificates to instructor-led trainings and executive education programs. During her 11-year tenure at CFA Institute, Barbara led the digital transformations of journal publications and credential program curricula, including the CFA Program curriculum. She was involved in the practice analysis process to identify the required knowledge, skills, and competencies of investment professionals and was instrumental in the inclusion of topics such as AI, ESG, and fintech into the credentialing and continuing education products as well as the modernization of the learning experience for these products.
Barbara was a faculty member at Thunderbird between 2000 and 2006 and then held academic positions at SKEMA Business School in France and Bournemouth University in the UK, and she served as the Director of Online Studies for the MSc in Management programs for the partnership between Laureate Online Education and the University of Liverpool Management School. She also worked as a consultant for corporate clients, specializing in designing, developing, and delivering bespoke training programs for adult learners. Throughout her career, Barbara has taught a range of courses in corporate finance and valuation, financial statement analysis, global financial management, mergers and acquisitions, and portfolio management. She has been the recipient of awards in ethics and faculty excellence.
Barbara co-authored a book on valuation and published several peer-reviewed articles in finance and management journals. She has also written op-eds on learning-related topics and is a member of a Future of Learning think tank. A native of the Rhône Valley in France, Barbara holds a Ph.D. in finance from the Université of Grenoble Alpes and an MBA from EDHEC Business School. She is also a CFA charterholder and has been volunteering in the investment community, including with the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance (Q Group) and INQUIRE UK.
