What is an MGM?

Overview

Thunderbird’s Master of Global Management (MGM) can be described as combining elements of a master’s degree in international business administration, a master’s in public policy, and a master’s in international affairs. Its 17 optional academic concentrations make it a highly customizable degree and the mandatory Global Challenge Lab adds hands-on applied learning to make it highly practical.

Graduate students pursuing an advanced degree in global management at Thunderbird seek to further their business, leadership, and management studies on a global level or broaden the scope of their knowledge and skills internationally. The program empowers graduates who hold bachelor’s degrees in other fields to change careers or advance in their current paths by opening new doors of opportunity worldwide.

Thunderbird’s MGM is categorized as a master’s in international management, not to be mistaken for a master’s in management (MiM), which in most regions of the world is a 1-year degree program for recent undergraduates whereas the MGM is a full-time 2-year program that can be tailored for all career levels and contains multiple cohorts of professionals. This category of graduate degree programs is also often referred to as a master’s in international business.
